Who is eligible to use Staycations Kenya?

Staycations Kenya verifies all hosts through to ensure they are suitable to offer exceptional hosting to our guests.

In addition, all Staycations Kenya guests need to be legally-recognised adults of 18years and above.

How does Staycations Kenya?

For Hosts – Create a profile and list your short-term rental or space on the platform. Once verification is complete, the house is published on Staycations Kenya platform for bookings.

For Guests – Click on register and Create your profile in a few steps, then go ahead to choose the space that fits you. Accept Staycations Kenya terms and conditions and finally make payment.

What is needed on sign up?

For guests, Staycations Kenya may ask for your government issued ID or Passport to ensure we have accurate information about you.

For hosts, we need to verify your apartment and identity. This is done by sharing the national ID card, mobile phone and email. Staycations Kenya will also ask you to provide a payment method that you’ll receive payments after 24 hours of a confirmed booking.

Staycations Kenya has a ‘Guests-first’ policy

We believe that putting the needs of our guests first is paramount in everything we do. Our guests-first policy is our golden mark of assurance to you, that you can reach us anytime and that we will provide the best to you.

How do I book a short term rental on Staycations Kenya?

It’s simple! First, you need to create an account on Staycations Kenya. Ensure you fill all your details accurately. Then scan Staycations Kenya to find the space that fits your tastes. Once you’ve identified the perfect space, click on book and select the dates.

What is the payment procedure?

To pay for your booking, you can use M-PESA, a credit card or a debit card.

Kindly do not make payments to hosts directly. If you do, Staycations Kenya will not be liable for any issues that may arise from such transactions. We will also not be able to process refunds arising from cancellations in such an event. Read Staycations Kenya  payment policy for more details.

What if I want to cancel my reservation?

We have made it possible for you to cancel your reservation if need be. However, due to the process involved, there will be a penalty for cancellations. As a guest, ensure you go through the hosts cancellation policy to see where you fit. These are the different cancellation policies offered by Maskani:

Easy -You can cancel at any time before check in with 100% refund

Friendly – You can cancel your reservation before 24 hours of check in with 50% refund

Moderate –   You can cancel at any time before 7 days to check-in with full refund

Strict – You can cancel at any time before 14 days to check-in with full refund

Cancellation policies in case of emergencies – in case you have extenuating circumstances kindly contact the support team for assistance

How do I communicate with a host?

Once you select your apartment of choice, there is an option of contacting your host to ask for more details in case you need more clarification. A dialog box will be opened to help you communicate with the host.

Great guests get great reviews! They also get the hosts to shower them with all the great niceties in their space. Here are some tips to have in mind as you book a short-term rental on Staycations Kenya and you will be on your way to being a great guest.

  1. Always pay via Staycations Kenya to ensure you safeguard yourself and make it easier for any refunds.
  2. Give your host an easy time. Kindly respect their apartment rules.
  3. Leave the house as you found it. Or even better than you found it.
  4. In case of any misconduct on the host’s side, reach out to Staycations Kenya.
  5. Kindly arrive and leave on time to give your host ample time to make preparations for next check in.

How do I list my property?

Once you have registered yourself on the website, click on ‘Become a Host’. From there, you will fill in details of your property such as the name and the kind of space it is. Provide a short description of what makes your short term rental special. In the event you need photography done for your property, you can contact Staycations Kenya to help out.

When do I get paid?

Once a booking is confirmed and the guest completes payment, a payout will be submitted to your chosen payment mode in 24 hours from check in time. The time taken is to ensure there are no arising issues with the check in.

Mind sharing some hosting tips?

Sure! Here are a few:

1.Ensure the information you share on your host profile is accurate and up to date. That way, guests will trust you more.

2.Give the guests some space. We all know our guests come to your property for peace and serenity.

3.Share expected rules and regulations of your property for all guests to see. On top of sharing them on your profile, you could have a print-out to be pasted within your property to avoid miscommunication.

4.Be as helpful as possible. Let your guests know that they can reach out to you in case they need assistance.
